Healthy Mouth, Healthy Child is a non-profit charitable organization dedicated to eradicating Early Childhood Caries (ECC), the most common of childhood chronic diseases. Our purpose is to conduct research, teach prevention, and promote diagnosis and treatment of ECC world wide.

Healthy Mouth, Healthy Child is incorporated separately in Canada and the United States, but administered by a common Board of Directors, comprising the leading lights in fields related to infant and child oral health and its ramifications for healthy brain and body development.

The impetus for Healthy Mouth, Healthy Child was Dr. Leonard Smith, a pediatric dentist of senior experience in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. However, Early Childhood Caries is a world-wide problem in child health, and Dr. Smith has ensured that the organization has an international focus.

The twin foundations have charitable status with the respective revenue agencies in Canada and the U.S., and issue tax-deductible receipts for all donations.

The U.S. Surgeon General says that dental caries is “the hidden epidemic” that is “the single most common chronic disease” among children:

5 times more prevalent than asthma
7 times more prevalent than hay fever.

Simple: because we can't do it alone.
That's why we're asking for your help and your support. Every single donation, no matter how modest, will put us one step further in erasing this life-damaging chilhood disease.

Contributions are tax deductible,
and a receipt will be issued.
